The Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician equips individuals with the practical skills and technical knowledge required to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment in buildings and premises.
This nationally recognized qualification includes the Essential Performance Capabilities outlined by the Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (ERAC) for obtaining an Unrestricted Electrician’s Licence. As the course involves work on electrical installations operating above 50V AC or 120V DC, students must hold the appropriate licence or permit, or be undertaking training under a formal apprenticeship.

We review your qualifications, licences, previous studies and industry experience to determine the most appropriate learner pathway. Where supported by evidence, eligible Credit Transfer or Recognition of Prior Learning may be considered through ATT’s formal assessment processes.

Your qualification is organised into phases, terms and learning blocks that progressively develop electrical knowledge, practical skills and workplace competency. Online learning, trainer-led lessons, practical workshops and supervised workplace evidence work together throughout the course.
After successfully completing all required training, supervised workplace evidence, practical activities and assessments, eligible learners may receive the nationally recognised UEE30820 qualification. Graduates intending to undertake licensed electrical work must separately satisfy the requirements of the relevant licensing authority.
The Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician fast-track course has the following entry requirements. Therefore, if you can commit ~15–20 h/week to self-paced study, this course is right for you.
Different training pathways may apply depending on your background. Regardless of pathway, all learners must satisfy the competency requirements of UEE30820 before the nationally recognised qualification can be issued.
Completion of the qualification does not itself guarantee an electrical licence. Licensing eligibility is determined separately by the relevant regulatory authority.
